Synopsis: Based on Brian Aldiss's short story "Super-Toys Last All Summer Long," and adapted from a treatment of the tale by the late Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg's latest takes place sometime in the future of the 21st century, when the Greenhouse Effect has melted the icecaps, submerging many coastal cities in water. In this atmosphere, mankind depends upon computers with artificial intelligence to maintain a comfortable way of life. Humans have also found new friends in A.I., robots that are used for a variety of everyday functions. One of these boy robots (Haley Joel Osment) undertakes an emotional journey toward becoming something more than a machine. Also stars Jude Law and William Hurt.
